My name is Andrea Hull and I am an Integrated Retail Designer with 10 years’ retail advertising experience. I was delighted to read about the Digital Designer position you have available at CSC Generation as it seamlessly combines my passion for building brands and creating high-quality design with my obsession with all things decor. I have extensive retail experience and count some of South Africa’s leading brands among my former clients. These brands cover a wide spectrum and include home decor, fashion and food. My professional experience covers trend research, developing original ideas, designing for both digital, print and in-store, facilitating creative direction, planning rollouts, shooting products and overseeing the creative process from start to finish. Creating and maintaining a consistent look and feel across every element is always a priority.

In my years in the industry, I have been part of both in-house marketing teams and have worked on a consultancy basis for top advertising agencies that range from the large and multinational to the small and boutique. I particularly enjoyed working for Markham, a men’s clothing brand (330 stores in South Africa) that forms part of The Foschini Group, a giant retail group of 3,328 stores across 34 countries.
I have been freelancing for the past five years and in the process, have refined my adaptability to work well in any team and have nurtured a strong collaborative attitude. I can be relied upon to deliver to brief and on deadline, and am a stickler for design detail. Almost all of the projects I’ve worked on have had a strong digital component, and have included website and email marketing, online display banner ads and branded social media content that fits both the campaign concept and overall business strategy. I believe that having a firm understanding of the ever-changing retail sector, home decor industry, design world and their attending omnichannel opportunities is essential if you are to create effective, targeted marketing collateral. As a result, I keep a finger on these multiple pulses every day.
ANDREA X BRADLOWS
Bradlows has been supplying South Africans with affordable and quality furniture for well over 100 years. I was commissioned by TBWA/OpenCo to refresh Bradlows’ branding and was solely responsible for setting up and managing the brand’s largest photo shoot to date.
This project helped to revive what was a rather worn design and to create a fresh photographic look-and-feel that could be used on any marketing material. The result was modern, functional and elegant. The exceptional work completed on Bradlows meant that I was then commissioned to work on Dutch multinational retail chain Spar, one of the largest food retail stores in South Africa and Africa.
MC Saatchi & Abel is one of the top agencies in South Africa. My position was second in command to the Creative Director. The majority of the work for Edgars was digitally based, building and designing website pages, social posts andeblasts.
ANDREA X ackermans
A popular clothing retail store, Ackermans has over 700 outlets across South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Lesotho, Eswatini and Zambia. I was part of the team responsible for a major rebranding of this large chain, creating a new, modern look-and-feel in line with the brand’s strategic direction and target market. The concepts I ideated, presented, developed and managed were were very well received and praised for being of a high standard.
It was with the integrated advertising agency 99c that I cut my teeth in the retail space and I quickly rose through the ranks from a mid-level to senior art director. During my time with 99c, I produced a number of high quality omnichannel marketing collateral efficiently and on deadline.
